Winter 2022 LCF News Update The LCF Advisory Board would like to wish you and your family Peace, Love, Joy, and GOOD Health in the coming year! Looking back at this past year, we are so grateful for all of the community events which we were able to host or sponsor this past year including the Winter Wonderland concerts, the Valentine's Day outreach at the St.Vrain Market, the Lucky Lyons race on St.Patrick's Day, the Easter Egg Hunt, the Artisan Market and BBQ cook-off, the Sandstone Concert Series, the Hootenanny and the Holiday Parade of Lights. We always look forward to connecting with community members, our friends and neighbors at these fun events. Lyons continues to shine thanks to wonderful initiatives that LCF is able to support through your generous contributions. Thanks to your support, LCF was able to award $50,000 in Community Support Grants this past fall and help six high school seniors pursue their post-secondary education. DONATE NOW At the Lyons Community Foundation, we are grateful for this community, especially in times of disaster. The devastating fire on Main Street was proof of how much we care about each other. In fact, the LCF Advisory Board did not hesitate to allocate funds to help local businesses impacted by the fire.  Community Support Grants Thanks to your support, the grant review committee was able to increase the total amount of grants awarded to $50,000. This year, 17 diverse projects will take place in 2023. These projects help to PROVIDE Human Services, CONNECT the Community, SUPPORT Local Ecology and INVEST in our Youth in the greater Lyons area. Thank you to Betsy Burton and Mike Whipp for offering to host this event at the Farmette. Thanks to Cemex and the Lyons Garden Club, there are two new scholarships available this year. Cemex is funding a $1,000 scholarship to students wanting to be a steward for the environment. The Lyons Garden Club is sponsoring a $1,500 scholarship for students interested in pursuing a career in horticulture or a related field. Thank you to these local organizations/businesses for stepping up to help more students attend a post-secondary institution.   As prices increase everywhere, LCF has realized that the rate of tuition and books has also increased. Based on the Scholarship committee’s recommendation, the LCF Advisory Board decided to raise the maximum scholarship amount up to $5,000 per recipient for three of the scholarships they fund: LCF Mission Scholarship, Janet Orback Memorial Scholarship, LCF Scholarship in memory of Steve Ralston.   If you know of a Senior who attends a local high school or is home schooled, please encourage them to apply for an LCF scholarship. Thanks to Planet Bluegrass stepping up to match an anonymous donation of $10,000, LCF was able to raise over $30,000 for its matching grant campaign this fall. We are very grateful for these strong partnerships in our community. Zach Tucker, latest board member to join LCF's Advisory Board hands Jeanne Moore, and Gil Sparks, chair and vice-chair of LCF a check for $10,000. LCF awards Lyons Creates $15,000 LCF is eager to help Lyons Creates reach its goal of the formulation of a Creative District, a distinction from the State of Colorado that the organization aims to earn for the Town of Lyons.
